The show is a hit on the television channel 7th Heaven. Mitchell's first major film role was as Grace the teenager who was addicted to drugs, who appeared in The Crow: City of Angels. She was a candidate to play Mary Camden, a role in the family drama 7th Heaven in 1996 while filming The Crow. Initially, producers rejected her due to the fact that they weren't sure she was a suitable choice for the character of Mary. When she was able to read for the role of the sister Lucy she was immediately cast. 7th Heaven had a very long time running of eleven seasons.
